David Robertson5 StarPete has done a number of jobs on our property ( an acre with several buildings) ranging from minor fencing work, building sandstone walls, laying both block paving and Indian Stone paving, installing a pond with three pools and a waterfall (installed in 2008 and still going strong) to rebuilding an old shippon in traditional style (below). We have always found his work to be of excellent quality; on the rare occasion that there is a problem such as 'paving mortar' degrading over time, Pete has returned and redone the pointing completely - raking out the old mortar and relaying with new.
I'd thoroughly recommend him for his work as well as his value for money. We would not use anyone else now.Thursday 6th September 2018
James Clarke5 StarWe've used Peter on several jobs over the last few years, from the small, changing a fireplace Lintel, to the very large of landscaping front and back of a sizeable property including all drive work & drainage. We've always been pleased with the work he has carried out and the end results speak for themselves! Will (not would!) use again & can definitely recommend. You get what you pay for!Tuesday 4th September 2018

Phil Caffrey1 StarAVOID!
UPDATE: it is now a few months since the attempted repair of the shoddy patio work. Needless to say, the repaired mortar has now all fallen off; the repair was a waste of time and effort. I won't be asking them back to try again as I don't have time or the energy for the poor attitude and belligerence that I got last time. I would suggest you avoid PLM Services Ltd if you can.
Very average for the money.
The pictures are of a patio laid by PLM less than 2 years ago. The majority of the pointing between the bricks crumbled in less than a year and a number of the stone flags became loose. Even those which have zero foot traffic. Some of the decorative grouting between the flags also crumbled.
My first two attempted contacts, via the website, received no response. The third, which was a text, was responded to and the proprietor visited to look at the issue. Freeze/thaw was blamed - basically the message given was that this was completely normal for a PLM patio because we live in the UK and can have bad weather. In other words, PLM think it was okay that my £12k job had not survived its first winter. I made the point that my house has been standing for 60 years and has not suffered any of this kind of issue with the mortar.
To add to this, the chap from PLM appeared to me to have got himself quite worked up and arrived, it seemed to me, quite angry. He hadn't calmed down much when he came to fix it a few days later as he was still trying to justify the problem to his colleague whilst fixing the mortar. They didn't make much of an attempt to clear up after themselves either - I have since picked all of the discarded mortar out of the lawn, scraped the spillages off the patio and brushed the dust and debris off my window sills. It felt a little like this was my punishment for having called them back.
So, all in all, from my point of view, a bit of a misadventure. It is fair to say that for now, the drive that they laid as part of the same job is in good nick and looking wonderful so no issues there.
I couldn't honestly recommend PLM. Having to have them back was one thing, but the attitude I have had to deal with to get it put right is not worth the hassle in my opinion.Thursday 26th September 2019
